Anthony Sgro is the founder of A.S. Advisory. He has over 20 years of professional experience servicing the financial services, banking, technology, telecom, software, biotech, manufacturing and venture capital sectors. He has held various roles in corporate finance and accounting, both in the US and in Europe and has built a unique reputation for having successfully supported company restructuring and M&A transactions worldwide, both as an analyst and as an interim CFO. Areas of expertise include valuation, cash flow modeling, working capital management, internal audit and Sarbanes/Oxley compliance, technical accounting, procurement, complex loan and lease accounting, and forensic and anti money laundering programs.
Prior to founding his own valuation and accounting advisory practice, he held senior management and consulting roles at KPMG LLP in the US and ImplementA Consulting, a management-consulting firm in Italy, founded by a former McKinsey & Co. director. Anthony has held the corporate positions of Regional Finance Manager and Controller at Electronic Data Systems Corporation; assistant CFO at Permasteelisa USA, an Italian multinational in the steel manufacturing sector; and Director of Accounting for Santander Holdings, USA. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics & Finance from Bentley University and a Masters in Business Administration from Suffolk University. Anthony has also completed master level courses at Bocconi University, in Milan. He has served as an adjunct professor of corporate finance at Bentley University and is an active member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the VC and Private Equity associations in Miami, Boston and New York City.
Fabrizio Leoni is country manager for A.S. Advisory, supporting all origination and M&A related activities, for the Italian market. Fabrizio is a Chartered Accountant, in Italy (Dottore Commercialista), with extensive experience in the banking, fashion and manufacturing sectors. In 1987 he started his professional career as a credit risk analyst at IMI (today part of the Banca Intesa Group), gaining extensive knowledge of syndicated loans and OTC derivative products. In 1990, Fabrizio joined the Salvatore Ferragamo Group, as treasurer, managing short and medium term capital requirements and foreign exchange risk, arising from transactions in six countries, in which the group operated.
Subsequently, Fabrizio spent 17 years as a Director with the global accounting firms in Italy, specifically with Ernst & Young Corporate Finance and then with Deloitte FAS, with a special focus on M&A origination, valuation, private equity, business planning, and debt restructuring, primarily in the mid-cap manufacturing sector. As of 2012, Fabrizio has been managing corporate debt restructurings, with respect to the Italian bankruptcy laws, creating financial recovery plans to present to judicial courts, banks and creditors. In this period he was also appointed as corporate advisor at Club House Italy (worldwide licensee of Fendi, Bentley, Trussardi and Bugatti, to manufacture and distribute luxury furniture), to restructure the accounting and financial planning areas of the Italian holding company, with a specific focus on the US subsidiary, located in Miami, Florida. Fabrizio graduated with a degree in Economics from Bologna University, “cum laude” and has a Master in Finance from SDA Bocconi, in Milan.
Antonio Giordano heads the Milan office of A.S. Advisory (ImplementA Consulting) and supports the Italian operations. He began his career in 1973 as a teacher in marketing with ISTUD, an Italian business school created with the support of the Harvard Business School and a number of large industrial companies. He continued his career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co, Inc. in Milan, where he rose to leader and senior manager with a track record of great success with client solutions in strategy and operations. In 1981, he accepted the responsibility of Managing Partner of Arthur Young Consulting (today Ernst & Young) and in 1989 he founded ImplementA Management Consulting. He has worked in several segments ranging from industrials (steel and petrochemicals) to consumer goods (food, automotive, retail) and, more recently, in the service and financial institution sectors (banks, leasing, asset management, car long term rentals). He is an expert with the practices of business policies, industrial planning, alliances, marketing, sales management, organizations (processes and structures) and operations. Recently, he has focused on helping Italian and US companies establish alliances of various types (R&D, production, sales and marketing), particularly in the technology areas. His advises are particularly appreciated, as he can bring senior judgment with technical expertise on business as well as legal aspect of the Italian environment. He has a degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan and an MBA from the Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Mass., with majors in marketing and business policies.
Andrea Zugno supports the development activities, for A.S. Advisory, in the Northern Italian region, focusing on the areas of real estate, food & beverage and non-performing assets, arising from insolvency proceedings.
Andrea is a Chartered Accountant and an Auditor in Italy, with specific expertise in real estate and M&A transactions. In 2006, he was appointed by the Italian courts as a special advisor in private mortgages, for the Unicredit Spa banking group, and for Barclays Bank Plc, as of 2010. He is very well versed in the Italian property market, having recently collaborated with one of the largest real estate groups in North East Italy, to ignite the revival and recovery of the sector.
He started his professional career in Treviso, working for a law firm, based in Denver, Colorado, in order to provide consulting services to American citizens interested in Italian market investment opportunities.
He currently collaborates with various law firms, as an external technical consultant, supporting company boards in the automotive, brokerage, and transport and logistics sectors.
In 2013, he was retained as a due diligence advisor for Permasteelisa North America, supporting a transaction for the Interiors division, located in Hartford, Connecticut. Andrea remains a specialist in business planning for turn-around initiatives of distressed companies, supporting the accounting and fiscal components of special situations, while providing reporting functions to management, creditors, banks, and investor entities.
Andrea has a reputation, amongst his colleagues and clients, for being an extremely energetic individual, with the ability to think strategically, having an aptitude for creativity and a strong passion for automation and digital resources.
Nadia Di Carlo is responsible for managing the strategy, project management and business development functions of A.S. Advisory. Her key areas of focus are the management of the cross-border investment help desk and the implementation of support platforms for start-up businesses in the US. Nadia’s technical areas of expertise include real estate management, corporate finance and statistical analysis and modeling. Nadia’s experience includes the management of a real estate trust, in Boston where her primary focus has been managing financing and leverage ratios, for the trust. Prior to joining A.S. Advisory, Nadia held senior roles, as an investment banker, both in the US and in Europe, at Mellon Financial, UBS Investment Bank and Curzon Global Partners. Nadia has numerous banking relationships in Italy and the US and is also a very active member within the Venture Capital and Private Equity communities, in Boston and New York City. She holds a Master of Science in Real Estate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in Boston and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Wellesley College, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
